Who can play for STYBA (Susquehanna Township Youth Basketball Association)?
Any child from Susquehanna Township School district who are in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.
(Subject to adjustment as needed)

What are the fees?
For 2023-124, the fee is $65 (and any service fees from Credit card companies).
Registration closes Nov. 10th or sooner without notice.

When is the season?
Co-ed Pony Division (1st/2nd grades) – November to January.
Boys Junior Division (3rd – 5th grades) November to January.
Girls Junior Division (3rd – 5th grades) February to April.

Are uniforms provided?
Each player is given a numbered team shirt to be worn at all games. Any player without their team shirt cannot play.

How many players per team?
Team size is 100% a result of registrations and number of volunteer coaches. Every attempt will be made to keep teams at 8-10 players.

How often do they practice or play?
When possible, Each division at minimum will have events twice a week. Your division’s coordinator will outline the schedule.
Pony division (Sara Lindemuth/Anna Carter Cafetorium 6:30pm) – Possible events days are Monday through Thursday. No weekends!
Junior Division (Thomas Holtzman Gymnasium 6:30pm & 7:30pm) – Possible events days are Monday through Thursday. No Weekends!

What about playing time?
Co-ed Pony Division (1st/2nd grades) Coaches discretion, however, this division is mostly skill building.
Boys Junior Division (3rd – 5th grades) Each player plays a minimum of 5 minutes per quarter.
Girls Junior Division (3rd – 5th grades) Each player plays a minimum of 5 minutes per quarter.

How about referees?
Each division will have a different referee set up – subject to available funds:
Pony Division (skill building division) – Will be refereed by Coaches or parent volunteers when simulating games.
Junior Division – Will use a combination of Coaches (1st month) and PIAA refs for 2nd month.

Any restrictions on defense?
Pony Division is strict match up man to man.
Junior Division – any defensive strategy/technique can be used.

Do players receive awards?
Subject to available funds – Players may receive participation awards at the end of their season.

What is new for 2023-2024?
We will focus heavily in all divisions on skill building rather than game play. We believe it is critically important to have our players grounded and mastering the fundamental techniques. The Jr. NBA Practice Plans will be a huge resource for our volunteer coaches. https://jr.nba.com/
